Quebec nursing continuing competence requirements
Quebec is different from the other Canadian provinces because both RN and LPN/auxiliary nurses have an actual prescribed CE-hour requirement. RN and LPN are regulated by different professional orders.

- Renewal period
- RN: Annual continuing-education cycle; activities must be completed by December 31 each year. LPN: 2-year CE reference period. (OIIQ)
- RN requirement
- 20 hours of continuing education every year, with a minimum of 7 accredited hours. (OIIQ)
- RPN / LPN requirement
- Minimum 10 hours of continuing education during each 2-year reference period. Current reference period: April 1, 2025–March 31, 2027. (OIIAQ)
- Mandatory topics
- RN: 20 hours annually, including at least 7 accredited hours. The OIIQ standard defines eligible continuing-education activities. (OIIQ) LPN: At least 10 hours every 2 years, directly related to professional practice, with activities recognized by OIIAQ. (OIIAQ)
- Required courses
