Holding licenses in two states: how to plan CE once

Nurses with compact privileges or two active licenses often over-buy CE because they plan each state separately. Usually there is significant overlap.

Start with the state that has the larger total and the stricter mandatory topics. Complete those hours first, then check the second state's topic list for gaps — frequently one or two short courses close it.

Watch the topics that cannot be shared: state-specific laws and rules courses, and one-time trainings that must name the state. Everything else generally transfers if the provider is acceptable to both boards.
